Fun Facts About Stainless Steel Products

I. Selection of Raw Materials (Stainless Steel Coil)
1.1. Stainless steel materials available on the market can be broadly categorized into two types: refining furnaces and medium-frequency furnaces.
1.2. Stainless steel produced in a refining furnace is smelted using ore as the raw material. During the refining process of stainless steel, oxygen and inert gases (Ar) and nitrogen (N2) are blown into the molten steel under standard atmospheric pressure. By reducing the partial pressure of CO, a pseudo-vacuum effect is achieved, thereby lowering the carbon content to an extremely low level and inhibiting the oxidation of chromium in the steel. The stainless steel produced via this refining furnace...
Steel with low carbon content, few impurities, and excellent ductility can readily meet the demanding requirements of deep-processing operations such as bending, flaring, and reducing diameters. The minimal impurity level enables high-precision surface finishing and polishing—making it possible to refine stainless steel in refining furnaces for secondary steelmaking.
1.3. When smelting stainless steel in a medium-frequency furnace, stainless steel scrap and iron sand are typically used as raw materials. The medium-frequency furnace generates a magnetic field through alternating current and melts the materials by heating. During steelmaking, it is impossible to reduce the carbon content or remove impurities from the metal, resulting in stainless steel produced by a medium-frequency furnace having high carbon content, poor ductility, and numerous surface impurities. It also exhibits poor performance in bending, flaring, and reducing diameters, and cannot meet the required standards.
Requirements for fine polishing; prone to defects such as sand holes, cracks, and peeling; stainless steel melted in medium-frequency furnaces cannot be subjected to secondary steelmaking.
1.4. The price of a medium-frequency furnace is about 3% lower than that of a stainless steel refining furnace.
